The Rom Com
It's true, I really enjoy a good romantic comedy. Mostly though, I enjoy watching them with Isaac. I thank God every day that I have a husband who is able to appreciate the finer points of movies such as Just Like Heaven, Bridget Jones' Diary (only the first one), and of course, the mother of all - Pride and Prejudice.
Unfortunately, there aren't that many good ones made in a given year, and definitely not enough to supply the rate at which we've been watching movies. So as I mentioned, we ended up watching Must Love Dogs, which was pretty much godawful. John Cusack, Diane Lane, what happened? Zero chemistry between the two of them, a somehow terrible script, oh no.
But seriously, I did a search on imdb for movies which are both comedy and romance (because who wants to watch a depressing romantic movie? not me.) and once you weed out the anime, and the sci-fi anime, and the unsatisfying French movies (just can't get into Audrey Tautou) we've seen almost EVERYTHING. It's quite sad. Okay, we didn't see Dr. T and the Women, because Stacy said it was something like a fork to the eye, but just about everything else. Also, I have a question - is imdb like wikipedia because I'm not sure why Team America World police is labeled a romance. Forget i asked.
So anyway, looking at the imdb list, we are down to Agent Cody Banks and Dirty Love and ooh Brown Sugar, which I will totally check out from the library, just for Queen Latifah. But I have a question of my readers (basically my sisters, hi Beth and Katie) - can you think of a movie that we might not have seen yet? I'm thinking about offering a cash reward. When we saw a movie for our anniversary, it cost $24. Not including the babysitter. Movie prices went up while we were living with an infant. We saw Dan in Real Life (which was cute, and we're giving it four out of five stars - I couldn't bear to give it anything less for $24).
Okay, good night, and think of good movies for me!

Hmmm... not sure all that you've seen, but a not-so-obvious one that I really like is 10 Things I Hate About You. Oh & I'm ashamed to admit it, but I also like She's All That. And She's the One is really good (1996), and if I remember correctly, The Brothers McMullen was okay, too. I love Beautiful Girls, in case you haven't see it, but I'm guessing you have.
I'll keep thinking of some that maybe you haven't seen. But I'm also a BIG fan of the sad romantic movies like The Way We Were. Sooooo good. Oh, I really also love The Mirror Has Two Faces (funny, though). And you should watch Ya Ya, even though its not a romantic comedy, it's just good. And I know Stacy is a huge fan of Fried Green Tomatoes, but I've only seen parts of it. OH- that reminds me- The Bridges of Madison County, if you haven't seen it, not a comedy but romantice & I cried super hard & it was super good.

I knew I could count on you guys! My library queue is bulging. I've seen a bunch of the ones recommended, but some of them are worth watching again. Also, I'm pretty sure I saw some of them but can't remember anything about them. I can be really bad with movies. Like The Mirror has Two Faces? I'm almost sure I saw that, but I can't remember anything about it now.
Anyway, I've got to get back to the Hollywood movies, because we've been watching these independent ones lately, and they kind of stink. Like Burning Annie, which sounds kind of cute sort of, about some guy obsessed with the movie Annie Hall, it started out okay, but then took a sharp turn towards the unsatisfying.
PS Stacy, I can't send a gift in the mail either. I had these brand new newborn clothes that Laura didn't get to wear, and I was goign to send them to friends. I was thinking about it before they had their baby, and now the baby's two months old. oops. Anyway, I totally get it! I have gifts in the closet that people never got. In fact, I think I had some Christmas tea in my closet for months that I was going to send to you in June (you know, so you could have it in the off season) but I didn't. I eventually drank most of it. SORRY! So don't feel the slightest bit bad, i know you because we are the same.
Happy thanksgiving!!!
I have to admit I substituted my very healthy pumpkin slop for my grandma's home made pumpkin pie this year...I also bought this pumpkin internation coffe drink this season that is really good...
I am now onto my edy's candy cane ice cream and peppermint suckers...I love this time of year.
**I have looked everywhere for my candy cane tea and can't find it yet...have you had luck?
